NORTH TO NOCONA

Texas TheaterDestination: Nocona, Texas. Getting there (and back) I can’t help but notice Tioga, a field of VW Beetles, a Piggly Wiggly, a pastureful of llamas, the Nocona boot factory, and the beautiful countryside around Montague. I also get chatted up by a guy who more than likely is not unfamiliar with the goings-on down at the local methadone clinic.

BEEF IT UP, SINGER!

pet tagsObservations of a dull day in which highlights include standing in line at a pet store to get pet tags engraved, musings on the fabulous makeover of Alexander Hamilton on the new ten-dollar bill, the recounting of a heart-warming story involving Isaac Bashevis Singer (who won the Nobel Prize for Literature) and Tina Brown (who did not), and the telling of a joke so gut-busting that one must advise the reader to proceed with caution.
