I live in Texas. I grew up in a bookstore. I’ve written things over the years, and I plan to post some of them here, most of them back-dated, and most of them more interesting and amusing than this. Really. Check back….

I’ll assume that the exposure we got from your blog post warrants our providing you with a new Texas Atlas & Gazetteer. Provide an address for me and I’ll ship one out to you.
Thanks very much for the mention.

Charlie,
Wow — you’re right on top of things! I just posted that yesterday!
I LOVE the Texas DeLorme Atlas & Gazetteer! Over the years — as a local buyer for one of the big chains — I ordered so many of those Texas DeLorme Atlases (hundreds upon hundreds!) that I feel I single-handedly kept North Texans happy and well-supplied in all their roadmap needs.
Thank you for your very nice offer, but I just bought a new one a few months ago, and it’s already been used several times.
BUT … since I have you here, might I make a suggestion? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE consider a spiral binding for this giant book! It’s a great book, and it deserves a more sturdy binding.
Again, thanks for the offer!

Did you notice a recipe in David Wade’s cook book for a potato salad made with CABBAGE? Sounds awful. My husband claims he actually made it. thanks. Carol

Hi, Carol,
I think if David Wade had a recipe for potato salad it would have to include — in addition to cabbage — some exotic ingredients like canned hominy and pumpkin pie filling. Garnished with rhubarb stalks and marschino cherries. And, perhaps a few wedges of Spam, arranged just so.
Thanks for reading!
Bon apetit!
